These beautiful neutral colour baskets are made from natural palm leaves, termed ilala in the native Batonga language. Batonga is a tribe found in the Binga region of Zimbabwe. The Batonga people were separated during the expansion of the Mighty Zambezi river. The other tribe remained in Zambia. The tribe in particular the women, carried along its artistic tradition of weaving baskets from readily available renewable sources.
These baskets will appeal to the bohemian spirit and brings a certain, uplifting, ethnic aura to a room.
